This morning I got up and did a few more miles solo. It was pretty cold so I was a little stiff when we started, but after 10 minutes I was pretty warm. I decided to check out a single-track trail that was part of the race about a mile away from our aid station. I only ran on it for about half a mile but it seemed pretty sweet. I saw a deer and we had a 30 second staring contest. I won so that was pretty cool.

It was an awesome opportunity to volunteer at the race this weekend and watch all these runners go through. From what I heard from the runners, it was a pretty brutal course and I was glad to help them as they went through. It seems crazy to be running 100 miles almost nonstop for around 24 hours. These runners are definitely something else. I think ultrarunning would be something really cool to get into and might be something I find myself doing in 15 years or so.

Congrats to you for volunteering. Good thoughts.
