Workout this morning due to no school for the holiday. Felt like I had school anyways because I was doing homework for the rest of the day. Anyways, we were going to do mile repeats on the track, but there was a soccer game going on so we moved them to the road. 2.5 mile warm up out past the Spectrum, then we got into the repeats. The repeats were on a gradual downhill for the first and third, and back uphill for the second. The second one was the toughest for sure, it felt like it took a lot out of my legs. It was a good workout though and a good push. 1 mile back to the school where I did 4x300m. I was really drained on these for some reason, they felt harder than they usually do for the times that I was running. I think it was just the fact that it was in the morning though. Cooled down half a mile and Coach said to take the afternoon off so I did.

I had to go work this afternoon because they were training us on some new schedule changes at Firehouse, so I did the afternoon run before school. 6 miles Webb Hill loop. It smelled rather skunkacious on the trail today. 3 miles after I got off work, I was a little tight at first but I felt pretty good. The new sandwiches were good, I like the turkey salsa verde one, and the sarachi beef one is pretty dang spicy.

3 easy in the morning to the Spectrum. I accidentally slept through my alarm so I had to play catch-up to get up to the other guys. Pretty tired this morning.

In the afternoon we did a 2 mile power run again but this time it was on the track. It was a little windy but I didn't think it would be too hard. Once we started though I realized that it was going to be a lot harder than I thought. Coach brought us through the first mile on pace and then paced us again for laps 6 and 7 and let us go on the last one. We ended up a little faster than our goal time, so it was a major confidence booster that we were able to hit our time in the not-so-perfect conditions. Great workout today and I'm looking forward to some easy mileage for the next couple of days.

3 in the morning to the bridge. I was on time for morning practice for the first time this week so that was good.

4.5 miles in the afternoon, another easy Kenyan run, love these runs!

I signed up for the Dogtown 9k on Wednesday because Coach wanted us to sort of do it as a workout. I got there about 30 minutes early and warmed up for about 2 miles. It was really nice weather this morning so that was good. I ran with Matt from PV at the start and kept it pretty easy for about the first 2 miles and started to pick it up a bit. I got to the turn around and started to try and push it a little more. When we got back to the main road I thought we were supposed to go left but I was following the guy on the bike who was leading the race and he turned right. It turns out that he actually made a wrong turn so when I finished I was about .75 short of 9k. I felt bad for not running the full 9k so I talked to the race director about it and she said she would figure things out. It turns out that everyone was making that right turn for about 15 minutes after me, and I guess she figured that the first few runners to finish were far enough ahead of anyone else so we didn't get DQed or anything. I cooled down about 3 miles waiting for the 1/2 runners to come in. I wish I could've run the whole course, that part kind of bummed me out a little bit, but it was a fun race and a good day, I watched the USA indoor men's 3k after I got home. Pretty exciting race and pretty agressive running towards the end. Bernard Lagat and those guys are fun to watch!
