Ran the Dirty Hurty Half Marathon today. Pretty sweet race, the trails out there are awesome. They shuttled us down from Unity Park to the starting line at about 5:45, and the race didn't start until 6:30, so we had to freeze our b*tts off for a little bit. We started the race off pretty chill, we ran behind Coach Fielding and Coach Holt until we hit the single track and I took the lead because they were doing the 50k and 30k. I led the way through the entire single track section, which went until about 6 miles, then I had to stop and tie my shoe. Caught back up with Josh at about 7 miles and we started to pull away from everyone. We both grabbed a cup of water at the aid station at 7.4 miles and kept on going. I think I could've maybe taken a GU because I started to bonk a little later. I never really felt too bad though. I ran with Josh until about 8 miles then he started to pull away a little on the downhill. I was probably 100m behind him when we got back onto Old Highway 91 but the rest of the race was mostly uphill and he kept pulling away. I sort of struggled mentally and physically for the next few miles, but I shook it off and picked it up on the last one to finish strong. A lot of fun to switch things up with the guys. Great way to finish off the week and the quarter of school. It kind of got a little hectic with schoolwork last week, so it'll be nice to have this next week to relax. One more quarter of high school left, pretty crazy!
